Acupuncture for Allergies
Health problems due to allergic reactions – whether to types of food, pollen, dust, or a whole host of other substances – seem to be well and truly on the rise in the developed world. Traditional Chinese Medicine approaches these problems holistically – as well as focusing on the actual symptoms of the allergic reaction, we aim to understand why that reaction is there in the first place, and help you to gradually strengthen your body’s defences so that immunity is enhanced.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine these defences are constituted by what is termed the ‘defensive Qi’, that part of our vital energy which protects us from incoming entities which may threaten our health and well being. Given the proliferation of such things as environmental pollutants and food additives, there is a greater need than ever for this ‘defensive Qi’ to be functioning optimally; our approach aims to discover why this may not always be the case, and how best to remedy it.
The Sean Barkes Clinic does not claim to cure any conventional medical disease states. Traditional Chinese Medicine seeks to re-establish and maintain the harmonious function of the human body-mind using tried and tested principles that have been discovered and matured over millennia. A Western medical diagnosis provides very little by way of insight in informing a Chinese Medical diagnosis. Patients usually recognise their own condition in terms of the medical disease category that they have been given by their GP or other conventional medical practitioner. The research presented here is merely an indication of the potential to draw parallels between Traditional Chinese Medicine and Modern Western Medicine.
